I head over to the club after work with Eva on the promise that Blu isnât there. She called Cree especially to check before Iâd agree because the last person I want to see is him. Itâs been a week since our kiss and Iâve not seen or heard from him. It seems to be a growing trend with the men in my life.
Malia greets me with a hug, and even Diesel, Leiaâs dog, seems excited to see me. âGuess what,â says Malia.
âWhat?â
âMe and Molly are bestest friends,â she states proudly and points over her shoulder to where Molly is sitting watching the large screen television.
I glance at Eva, who groans. âI forgot to tell you,â she whispers. âMolly and Hannah are staying at the club until everything is resolved.â
My eyes almost bug out of my head. âThatâs very important information, Eva,â I hiss.
âI know,â she mutters with a grimace. âSorry.â
âThatâs exciting, Malia,â I say with a smile. âHowâs Ziggy taking the news?â
âHe got real mad and wonât speak to me,â says Malia, sighing. âBut Mummy said heâs stubborn like his daddy and I should just ignore him.â
I laugh. âSounds like some good advice.â
She fits her little hand in mine and pulls me towards the couch. âRead us a story. I have a new book about Princess Jasmine. I think she looks like you.â
I end up reading the story twice because Malia is too adorable to say no to. I have a kid on each side of me and eventually Ziggy gives in to his mood and also joins us. I miss being around these kids. At home, there are no kids.
âIâm Hannah,â says a polite voice. I look up into the gorgeous face of Bluâs ex and sheâs stunning, the kind of woman you know gets out of bed looking good without a scrap of makeup. I can see what Blu saw in her, and Iâm sure together, they look amazing.
âGianna,â I say, smiling.
âIâve heard some great things about you,â she says, taking a seat on the opposite couch.
Iâd like to say the same about her, but Iâve heard nothing apart from the fact sheâs pregnant. âCongratulations on the pregnancy,â I say.
âThanks. Still early stages. Did Blu tell you?â she asks, and I nod. âUsually he doesnât open up about his private business,â she says with a smile. She isnât saying it in a bitchy way, more like sheâs surprised.
âGiaâs special to me,â comes Bluâs voice and my heart threatens to beat out of my chest.
âGirls, letâs go and see what Frankie is cooking up for dinner,â says Hannah and the kids jump up to follow her. It bothers me that she seems so comfortable here. Blu sits next to me.
âNo ring yet?â he asks, taking my hand and examining my ringless finger.
âI told you, Ricâs in Italy.â
âHe should have rushed back to get that ring on your finger, stop someone else putting one there,â he mutters.
âHannahâs here,â I say, changing the subject. I try to free my hand, but he keeps hold of it.
